Family Dairy Farming

Farming has been in my family for over 125 years. Our family's first dairy in Louisiana was started by my grandfather's grandfather sometime after the Civil War. Pictured is my maternal grandfather, Louis Pesson from New Iberia, Louisiana. The photo was taken by Progressive Farmer Magazine in 1955 when he was presented with the Master Farmer Family Award by Progressive Farmer and Louisiana State University. Two years prior to this he was presented the 1953 Louisiana Outstanding Dairyman Award. Subsequent generations have strayed to academia and consulting, but, in our hearts, none of us are far from the farm.
